s.a.j. (in english r.m.m. - rapid memory movement) is an on-going collaboration project with artist Ieva Černiauskaitė involving audio dream synthesis.
The dream synthesis is achieved by constructing a processing chain in a visual programming language of rnbo (maxmsp) that takes a random snippet of a bank of recorded dreams.
It is then instructed to weave the audio into a never ending collective string of subconscious.
Because the audio is being weaved real-time by code, the experience is never repetitive and ever-changing.
s.a.j. was presented in two distinctive formats - web and physical installation.
1. web
Full rnbo code running real time in the web. It doesn’t require any mediums or streams, the patch/code is being directly implemented and run within the website.
Give it a try!
2. Physical installation
For the physical instalation we’ve decided to go for a device that would encapsulate the mistery of s.a.j.
The code was exported to RaspberryPi which was then placed in a counter-intuitive setting within the faculties of Vilnius Art Academy. Visitors, in such a way, were prompted to approach with interest.
